The number of employees eligible for overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act is about to go up, thanks to a final rule the U.S. Department of Labor issued in September. The new regulation, which raises the salary exemption for certain white-collar workers Jan. 1, 2020, has HR departments busy before the holidays.
If there's one common thread that has emerged from HR Dive's conversations with attorneys and other stakeholders about the overtime rule, it's that employers should have prepared a long time ago. But for those still making adjustments, sooner is still better than later.
