Dive Brief:
- For the 19th year the HR Technology Conference and Exposition will offer HR leaders nationwide a look at some of the key issues they face when it comes to optimizing an employer's HR-related technology investments.
- Steve Boese, the conference's program co-chair, writes at Human Resource Executive that through his multiple conversations, product demonstrations and participation in industry events, he has a good sense of which overall "trends, themes and important ideas" are driving the HR practice and "are reflected in the HR technology landscape."
- According to Boese, the five main topics at center stage this year include: making sense of HR and people data; engaging and retaining talent; the continuing impact of marketing on HR and HR tech; succeeding with modern HR technology and, finally, the importance of design and user experience.
Dive Insight:
Boese cites the increased use of data and analytics in HR and talent management as a trend that, while still in its early phase, will become much more important in the months and years to come before it gets "more mainstream and common adoption in organizations." Technology is indispensable in solving this challenge, especially as more companies are turning toward data and analytics to solve their culture problems.
Employee engagement and talent retention are not by nature technology issues, but Boese notes that as the economy's improvement continues and unemployment rates decline, talent management has become even more critical.
Technology has always been a major moving target for HR leaders, and the tech show remains a great chance, albeit an often overwhelming one, to see what's going on with some of the top vendors and solutions.
