Dive Brief:
- LinkedIn is creating a single point of access for employees to find all a business' learning content, according to a company blog post. For companies that have purchased access to a variety of content sources, LinkedIn Learning has integrated content so employees can access all a company's learning through a single point of entry.
- To start, LinkedIn will partner with Harvard Business Publishing, getAbstract, Big Think, Treehouse and CreativeLive for Business. LinkedIn said it will integrate with more platforms in the future.
- LinkedIn will continue to build upon its own content, adding personalization and social features to help users find content that meets their needs and engages them to develop their personal and professional growth, LinkedIn Learning head of product Hari Srinivasan said.
Dive Insight:
LinkedIn's move to make itself a hub of diverse learning platforms may align with the trajectory of learning tech. "The days of trying to have one system that does everything is, I believe, over," Julie Hiipakka, learning research leader at Bersin, Deloitte Consulting LLP, previously told HR Dive. "Many organizations are relying on a diverse suite of tools to bring knowledge to workers when and where they need it."
As LinkedIn partners with more and more names within the learning space, it will simultaneously stick with the multi-tool trend and work to brand itself as the keeper of the learning kingdom.
This isn't a new strategy for LinkedIn, however. LinkedIn launched Learning Pro, a new product set that allows L&D professionals to add their own third-party videos to the platform for learners to access. The update also introduced a simplified administrator tool that manages and tracks video activity. By integrating itself with a plethora of tools and functions other services provide, LinkedIn takes advantage of employers' preference to use a cornucopia of learning platforms by housing them all.
