Dive Brief:
- Employees have strong feelings about workplace culture, policies and even the personalities they work with. Now, they have an new online spot to unload those feelings, according an article to SFGate.com.
- A growing number of workers are sharing their stories on Memo, a new app where they can post anonymous messages about their employers.
- Memo users are verified through LinkedIn or a corporate email address and Memo immediately deletes identifying data about a person, the company said. The app comprises a public message board that can be viewed by all users, as well as a private board that is limited to employees of a given company. The app permits users to post memos, comment on existing memos and links to websites.
Dive Insight:
Obviously, HR leaders will want to plug into Memo and take a look at what workers have to say about their workplace. There might even be some very good ideas and innovative suggestions posted (apart from the complaints).
Memo founder Ryan Janssen said he engineered the app to create a space for employees to share feedback about company policies and practices.
“These conversations are taking place on Memo, both publicly and privately. Ultimately, Memo is about preventing the sort of press that Amazon has gotten. The fact is, if Jeff Bezos had been on the private Memo board for Amazon over the past year, none of this would have come as a surprise,” Janssen told SFGate.com.
