The U.S. recognized Equal Pay Day on March 25, marking how far into the new year women with full-time jobs have to work to earn the same as men did last year.
To date, women earn just 83 cents to the dollar compared to men, according to a recent Payscale report. They are not predicted to reach gender parity with men for 134 years at the current rate of progress, JPMorgan Chase said in a study.
Yet, while pay transparency efforts that aim to create greater equity among workers are slow going, they are making inroads in some states and among some employers. While only 19% of U.S. employers have a pay transparency strategy already, 63% said they plan to share wage information in a standardized way, per a Mercer report.
